Data URI Creator

Data URI Creator is a very simple application that helps you generate Data URIs from images for embedding inside HTML documents. There are a lot of these tools online, but I couldn’t find a desktop one that works offline. I didn’t feel comfortable uploading my copyrighted images to some random website to encode them, so this seemed like the best solution.

This tool does one thing, and one thing only. It takes an image in JPG, PNG, or GIF format and base64 encodes it for embedding in HTML documents.

Data URI Creator requires the .NET 2.0 Framework.
Tested Operating Systems: Windows® 7

Any chance to make a command line version of this tool?
Like this… DataURICreatorCLI.exe c:\path\to\my\images\myimage.png –> copy the DATAURI code to Windows clipboard

Reason: my favorite Screenshot app GreenShot doesn’t seem to provide “DATAURI output” directly, but using GreenShots external command line interface may provide a chance.

Best regards, a happy new year and thanks for all your efforts!!! (I’m a former XMarks user and now happily use StorURL portable in my OneDrive folder)

Hi Gerhard, and thanks for the suggestion! It sounds like a reasonable request. DataURI Creator already supports passing in a filename to the application via the command line and it will hash it, but it currently does not copy the output to the clipboard. I am thinking that I can add a –copy flag, and it could automatically set the clipboard and then exit the application. I will log this as a feature request and hopefully post an update in the near future. 🙂
